What is it about?

Lecce stone is a very ductile limestone with exceptional characteristics: soft and easy to work, it is the mother of Lecce Baroque. It is a style rich in details, finely worked, thanks above all to the skill of the master stonemasons.

To pay tribute to such an important figure, we will put you in the role of an apprentice stonemason and, under the guidance of a master and equipped with chisel, wooden mallet, saw, file, axe and metal squares, you will make a small but beautiful work of art out of a simple block, the fruit of your own hands.

Your workshop will be an ancient underground oil mill set up for the occasion.

Because you will love this travel experience:

• Get in touch with local craftsmen and discover ancient master stone carvers, surrounded by typical Lecce vegetation in a historic oil mill where you can breathe in history and tradition.
• In just three hours you will see a real artefact being created by your hands, thanks to the malleability of Lecce stone, which gave birth to the Baroque style typical of Salento, and which you can take away with you.
